Monthly Archives: April 2012

I’m a senior reporter for the bi-monthly magazine SpaceNews, where I cover national security issues. I’m also a freelance writer based in the Washington D.C. area. My byline has appeared in Runner’s World, the New York Times (once), Distinction magazine, Arlington magazine, Hampton Roads magazine, Complete Woman (seriously) and even Mary-Kate & Ashley (I know.) I’ve done freelance work for the AARP Bulletin and the Associated Press and once appeared on the BBC to talk about a satellite that unexpectedly exploded. You can find links to many of my favorite stories on this site. Previously I worked as a columnist with The Virginian-Pilot newspaper in Norfolk, Virgina.

Obligatory biographical information: I was born in Ohio.  I attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where I majored in English and American Studies. Then, I worked in Fort Wayne, Ind. at The Journal Gazette newspaper. In 2003, I moved to Virginia.

I’ve lived in five states. So far. I have run two marathons and eight half-marathons. So far. I have attended one World Series game. So far. I own one dog. That is enough.
